UGANDA 1st - 15th July 2017 - Birds, Primates, Animals
There were just 6 of us on the trip: myself and my wife Anne, David & Jan Kingman from Dorset, and Granger Ward & Pam Cox from California. We were ably led by our enthusiastic and eagle-eyed guide Herbert Byaruhanga of Bird Uganda, and his trainee female guide Abia. The trip was organised by the UK birding travel company Oriole Birding.

The itinerary covered the famous Mabamba -
Kamengo Swamp Wetlands near Entebbe, Murchison Falls NP, the Royal Mile, Kibale NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP, and Lake Mburo NP. Accommodation in the National Parks was in very nice lodges. |
Looking at the map below, we flew in to Entebbe by the shores of Lake Victoria and stayed in a small hotel there. Our tour subsequently followed the dirt road NW via Masindi, to Murchison Falls NP. The route then headed SW parallelling the western border of Uganda via Fort Portal, to Kibale NP. After exploring there we headed SW again to visit Queen Elizabeth NP, then up into the hills to a lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP for the forest birding and Gorilla experience. The final leg took us east to a lodge on the edge of Lake Mburo NP. Finally completing the circle we headed north back to Entebbe and ultimately our flights home.
